The Propel P:1 is built from Yamamoto #39 Cell neoprene, using a mix of smooth-skin and jersey-laminated panels, with neoprene thickness built up to 5mm through the areas where maximum buoyancy matters most. Over the top of that, 2XU’s SCS (Super Composite Skin) hydrodynamic coating bonds to the neoprene’s outer surface to reduce surface drag, so you’re pushing through less resistance with every pull.
Construction details carry the technical edge through to fit and transition. A floating zip panel runs down the back of the suit, allowing unrestricted shoulder movement through the catch and pull for improved distance per stroke, while Rollbar technology reduces buoyancy specifically around the suit’s edges, keeping side-to-side rotation snappy rather than floaty. At the ankles, a lower leg propulsion panel is paired with fast-release ankle transition panels, so you get an efficient kick in the water and a fast, fumble-free exit once you’re out of it.
