Endurance athletes, like runners and cyclists, require a great deal of stamina for their chosen discipline.

And though sports drinks are most commonly used to enhance performance, they may not give an individual as much energy as they require. This is where energy gels come in; a valuable carbohydrate solution, these gels not only provide endurance athletes with a significant energy boost, but are also easily consumed without water.

Choose the Right Carbohydrate Gel for Running

The best carbohydrate gel for running depends on your workout, as well as your body. For runs under an hour, opt for lighter gels without caffeine. For longer runs or training sessions, look to consume 30–60g of carbs per hour along with some added electrolytes and caffeine.

Go for flavours and brands you actually look forward to using. Try out different variations to find the combination that works best for your body, digestive system, and performance needs.
